Installing NetSupport Manager on 64bit versions of Linux

NetSupport Manager can be installed on both 32bit and 64bit versions of the supported operating systems, in order to run on a 64bit version there is the requirement to install the 32bit versions of some files


NetSupport Manager is compiled for 32bit machine and will require the correctly compiled versions of several libraries in order for NetSupport Assist to run correctly. To install the required files please follow the steps below:

Note: the following requires a sudo level account

  1.     Open a terminal application or use session switching (Ctrl-Alt and F# key) to access the command line and login if required.
  2.     Install the 32bit libraries using the appropriate command below.
        (the commands can be copy & pasted to save time and typing errors)
        o OpenSuSE:
        sudo zypper install libxml2-32bit libstdc++4?-32bit xorg-x11-libs-32bit glib2-32bit libgthread-2*-32bit libgobject-2*-32bit
        o Debian/Ubuntu/Mint:
        sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
        o Fedora:
        sudo yum install glib2-2*.i686 libX11-1*.i686 libxml2-2*.i686 libXdamage-1*.i686 libXtst-1*.i686 libXrender-0*.i686 freetype-2*.i686 fontconfig-2*.i686 libSM-1*.i686 libstdc++-4*.i686 glibc-2*.i686 libgtk2-2*.i686 libcanberra-gtk2-*.i686 PackageKit-gtk-module*.i686 gtk2-engines.i686 pam-1*.i686
  3. Once the installation has finished, restart the machine.
